The End of the Mega Man Franchise
Megaman was one of the most popular games in the 1990’s. The popularity of the game slowly waned up to this point. It was the number one video game for the distributor Capcom. Recently, Megaman Legends 3 was cancelled during development. Other Megaman games have been recently cancelled. The fact is, all the recent Megaman projects died during the development stage. The distributer, Capcom no longer has the confidence it once had in this game. The demo for Megaman legends 3 was not even released. Capcom did not even consider the feedback from fans as an indication to the possible success of the game.
Megaman Universe was also cancelled after barely seeing the light of day. This version would have allowed players to modify the design of the game. Megaman Universe also allows designers to share their designs for others to try. All of the Megaman games that were supposed to be released on X-box and Playstation were cancelled. It is rumored that the developers are not confident in the quality that is required by distributers. Developers feel that they would need a long term plan and budget in order to properly develop a very modern concept.
